Hallstatt in Austria is a village in the Salzkammergut, which is one of the region of Austria. It is located near the Hallstätter See (a Lake).  It has 946 inhabitants. If you have some free  time during your European tour, you have to visit Salzburg and Hallstatt. Hallstatt was declared a World Heritage Site in 1997 by UNESCO. The Salzkammergut is a  famous resort area  in Austria. It stretches from City of Salzburg to the Dachstein mountain range, spanning the federal states of Upper Austria , Salzburg and Styria .The main river of the region is the Traun, a tributary of the Danube.
