Experimental stage to become National Theatre’s newest venue in 2010. If you have ever seen the Czech National Theatre, then surely you have noticed the modernistic glass cube lodged between it and an 18th century convent. That is the Nová Scéna, the seat of the well known Laterna Magika, or Magic Lantern, experimental theatre. Long one of Prague’s top attractions, Laterna Magika’s popularity has diminished over the years, and as of 2010 the building and the its programme management will be transferred to the National Theatre, which is quite literally giving it a new lease on life. Of course, most of Prague and Czech Republic guests who travel to Europe during vacations, cultural or educational tours, will visit one of the Prague Theatres or concert Halls - the National Theatre, the State Opera, the Laterna Magika, the Rudolfinum, the Black Theatre, etc.

The National Theatre is the outstanding Czech stage and its repertoire consists of drama, opera and ballet performance. (Neo-Renaissance building from 1868 - result of national collection.)
Visit:  is not open to the public except of performaces
Situation:  20 min walk from the centre (Old Town Hall)
Address:  Narodni trida 2; 110 00 Prague 1, Czech Republic
